Suffolk Horses - SocietiesThe Suffolk Horse Society in Woodbridge is the oldest in the world; it was established in 1877. The main aim of this organization is to encourage breeding these unique horses by presenting grants and premiums. It organized a major display of Suffolk horses and published "The Stud Book".An annual Ploughing Match for Suffolks is the only plowing match for a single breed. Having originated as a working breed, Suffolk horses have very functional conformation and are not often shown. This breed takes part in presentation and pulling competitions in England and the USA only. Suffolk horses are not subjected to the fads of the show ring.
